There's No Place Like Home

Since both my husband and I grew up on the West Coast of Canada in Victoria, B.C. I find myself missing the ocean, beaches, and fresh air! Honestly, the MOMENT Nathaniel is released from the Army we will be packing up our caravan with all our carnies (pets) and heading home.

To get me through these endless days with the dry air, mountain-less horizon and subzero winters, I decided to create a space devoted to my favorite place on the planet.

This area all started with my favorite piece furniture in our home...it's the dresser that Holly reinvented! I was SO happy to get to be her very first customer. It's such a beautiful piece!!

I want to share with you one of my favorite areas in our house...it's my homage to home. I call it Ode to Victoria.

This area is right behind our dining table...right next to the kitchen.
I got the capiz chandelier from Home Depot
Hurricane Lanterns from Home Sense (on clearance)

Wooden wall medallion spray painted white (Home Sense)

Painting is a Robert Wood reproduction
So now whenever I feel the slightest bit homesick...I can look at my Victoria vignette and smile :)

I love it Becky! It is like home :) All you need is a picture of me haha. I have some really cheesy grad ones, I'll bring you a framed one when I come....kidding.
Great job once again

Rebecca, I know all too well what it's like to miss the oceanside and all it's beautiful sites. My heart belongs by the sea. :) That dresser? Favorite one by Holly. Ever. What a beautiful creation by you.

HEL-LO lovely! I would totally move into this nook. Now I have this strong urge to add Victoria to our list of "Must Travels".

I love it! Holly's piece looks right at home there. Love the lighting of course. I swear the your Home Depot is much better than mine in the states!

Have a great weekend!

What a gorgeous "cove" in your very own home! I am currently reading Anne of Green Gables aloud to E while she nurses (I do realize that she is not old enough to understand it yet!) but that book, combined with your inspiring space convince me more than ever to plan a trip to Cananda! Simply beautiful!

Thank you so much for your comment on my blog. I had never seen your blog before, but I really love it already. I think it will be my Sunday night project to make it through the whole thing. I really love this dresser - its gorgeous! And I absolutely adore your hairpieces - they are beautiful. I'm jealous of your talent.

What is your decorpad name?! I love being able to link people on decorpad to their blogs!

Thanks again!

Love it! Especially that fantastic piece of art.... I've been eyeing that same capiz chandy for months now, and am happy to see it in a "real" space.

Thank you everyone:) I'm really glad you guys like it! Nathaniel is not too fond of that Robert Wood Print for some reason...weird considering he loves the ocean too.
Hello Lover- my decorpad name is Robrien1....not very unique lol! Just the first part of my university email address....I wasn't feeling very creative that day I guess :P

Rebecca I love this. So reminds me of home. My grandma had the same picture and I didn't take it because of the frame, you did a great job. I have the same dresser. Holly did a wonderful job with it.
